As a family photographer in Port Angeles and the surrounding areas, one of the best parts is capturing families’ evolving stories over time. It’s cool to work with repeat clients—seeing their little ones grow, witnessing new milestones, and documenting how their family changes each year.
Some of my repeat clients are families that come back, but sometimes it’s clients that I’ve seen through boudoir, into engagements and weddings, and then into their family pictures. I love seeing people through many walks of life and being their photographer for life. Whether it’s a yearly tradition for holiday cards or simply a chance to freeze time for a moment, these sessions often feel like reconnecting with old friends. Plus, it helps that as I get to know you more and more throughout the years, it makes your photos that much sweeter.
One of the best parts of being a photographer in the Port Angeles area is the number of outdoor locations that are perfect for family photos. Whether it’s the beauty of Olympic National Park, a meadow, or the shoreline of the beach, these spots are great for pictures and a perfect setting for letting kids be kids. Being a local to Port Angeles means I have a lot of experience with different locations and can help you find what will be best for you.
A favorite for many families is the beach, where little ones can run free, splash in the water, and explore nature while I capture those candid moments. When kids are allowed to play and be themselves, it creates a relaxed atmosphere, and the photos naturally reflect your family’s unique dynamic.
Coordinating outfits for a family photo session can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. One of my top tips is to keep it simple. Neutrals are always a great choice—they create a timeless look and keep the focus on your family’s connection rather than the clothes. If you’re feeling seasonal, you can also choose colors that reflect the time of year, like warm earth tones in the fall or soft pastels in the spring.
Whatever you decide, the most important thing is that everyone feels comfortable and confident. When you’re at ease, it shows in the photos.
