Moody & Modern Dinner Party Wedding // Richmond, VA // McKenna + John

Did someone just include the words “dinner party” and “wedding” in the same sentence? Count me in! McKenna and John’s modern dinner party wedding was everything you could ever ask for. They didn’t want anything too stuffy or formal, so they chose Tredgar Iron Works in Virginia for their perfect venue. They wanted their 165 guests to enjoy good food, a little too much wine, and tons of music and dancing. The organic ‘dinner party’ feel was exactly what they were going for, and man did they achieve it. 

“Moody, but classy” was the running aesthetic for the wedding, and the intimate and stylish vibe captured that perfectly. They had a luxurious lounge area for all of their guests with a record player, a conversational atmosphere, and a nine-piece band that had everyone on the dance floor all night. The delicate seasonal florals and foraged greenery was a dream to photograph and as you can see, complemented the venue perfectly. Getting to experience a fall wedding in Virginia was such a dream.

For McKenna and John, they viewed their wedding as so much more than just pretty details (even though there were plenty of those). Their wedding was about joining two families together and celebrating their love on such a special day. They wanted each of their guests to enjoy themselves, the atmosphere, food and live music.

Over the course of 17 months, their team of vendors came together and made their day as seamless as you could imagine. McKenna expressed that the process was incredibly stress-free and their day was executed flawlessly, which, let’s face it, is every bride’s dream. 

Getting to go to Richmond, VA and be a part of this special day was truly such an honor. My husband and I got to photograph this one together and spent a few extra days doing some sight seeing on the east coast and I will always look at these photos and remember what a great trip that was.
