Brayden and Amber’s surprise proposal at Alderbrook Resort and Spa was one of the sweetest proposals I’ve ever captured. Not only did Brayden pull off the surprise extremely well, but there were actually more than one in store for Amber! I love when couples take the opportunity to hire a photographer for their engagement, especially when it’s an unexpected one. You seriously can’t beat the authenticity of surprised proposal photos, and I promise you won’t regret having that special moment captured.
Brayden reached out to me awhile back and had everything planned out to a T. The first surprise was (of course) the proposal, and he put so much thought, time, and effort into coordinating everything! He had a table in the woods set up with lights, champagne, and flower petals for Amber. The couple had dinner reservations the very same evening, and so Brayden’s plan was to ask Amber to go on a walk with him beforehand. Not gonna lie, I was a little worried that Amber would question why they were going on a walk in the rain before dinner, but Brayden knows his (now) fiancée way too well. Amber is definitely one of those “go with the flow/adventure seeker” people, which ended up being perfect for the plan!
When Brayden got down on one knee, Amber’s reaction was truly priceless and I’m SO happy I was able to capture it on camera. But remember when I said there were two surprises involved here? We ended up walking back towards the resort to take more photos near the water, and when we got there, both of their families were there to congratulate them! Brayden had coordinated for everyone to stay the weekend at Alderbrook and celebrate together.
It was the perfect end to a perfect proposal. Nobody, especially Brayden and Amber, could stop smiling the entire time. I’m so happy Brayden thought to reach out to me to document it. If you’re contemplating proposing to your partner, this is your sign to hire a photographer to be there! Even if you have no idea where to begin planning a surprise proposal, I would be more than happy to brainstorm with you. Here’s an engagement session I photographed at the Little Owl Cabin that would also be the perfect woodsy location for a surprise proposal!
